Vernis E. Kehr

Vernis E. Kehr, 84, of Goshen, died early Wednesday morning, October 21, 2009, at Greencroft Healthcare. She was born in Pangburn, Arkansas, on February 22, 1925, to the late Ernest and Nellie (Wray) Stubbs.  She married LaMar Saal on May 10, 1943 in Grand Island, Nebraska.  He died October 20, 1968.  On July 25, 1971 she then married Wilbur "AB" Kehr in Goshen.  He died January 30, 1995. A Goshen resident since 1943, Mrs. Kehr worked for CTS for 31 years.  She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Goshen, where she helped serve meals, participated in the sewing circle and in the Women's Gild. She is survived by a daughter, Sue Collins of Goshen; three grandchildren, Shelley (Scott) Virgil of Middlebury, Scott (Nicole) Troyer of Goshen and Ben (Andrea) Collins of Charlotte, North Carolina; four step-daughters, Debra Williamson and Sharon Wyne, both of Muncie, Indiana, and Marsha (Roger) DePoy and Cynthia (Jerry) Claxton, both of Niles, Michigan; seven step-grandchildren; and a twin sister, Vernice Sutton of Hopewell, Virginia. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Alice Smelser, Mary Mzaz, Nellie Rae and Donna Richardson; a daughter, Sharon Troyer and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Kayla Troyer. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, October 22, and one hour prior to the service on Friday, at the funeral home. An 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 23, 2009, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Pastor Michael Tarner of St. Mark's United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Rock Run Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church.
