Vernard L. Stroman, 84, of Goshen passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017 surrounded by his family at home.
Born on March 29, 1932 to Leon and Delta Stroman, Mr. Stroman lived nearly his entire life in Goshen. During his high school career, he ran for the Goshen track team. Midway through his tour of duty as an instrument repairman in the Navy during the Korean War, he married his high school sweetheart, Victoria Walston.
Fervent was his faith in God and love of his family. Mr. Stroman and his wife raised three children, Cinda (Gary) Haney, Linda (Mike) Simmons, and Mark (Tara) Stroman. As manager and eventually owner of Troyer Seed Company, the family business started in 1922 by his grandfather, Clarence Troyer, and passed down from his parents, Mr. Stroman worked alongside his wife, two of his children and several grandchildren. He leaves behind a sister Patricia (Ron) Cooper, seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and many loved family members.
Being an active member of First Baptist Church in Goshen was important to Mr. Stroman, and he held a number of service positions there. His love for motorcycles, gardening and all things green was only outshone by his passion for music and the arts. Mr. Stroman regularly attended concerts and plays, most notably as a season ticket holder at the Wagon Wheel for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
