Verna Maierle

Verna Maierle, 96, of Goshen, died November 1, 2020, at Goshen Hospital.

She was born January 1, 1924 in Monroe County, Michigan to Eugene and Lillian (Long) McCarty.

On June 11, 1941 she married Earl Maierle in Blissfield, Michigan.  He died in February 1976.

Survivors include three daughters, Sharen Staup of Elkhart, Caren (Rev. Lynn) Chappell of Harrison, Michigan and Sue Romans of Goshen; two sons, Loren (Donna) Maierle of Albion and Ray (Elizabeth) Maierle of Goshen; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Forsyth of Tecumseh, Michigan.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Maierle; three sisters, Geraldine Hall, Marie Logan and Donna Holubik; six brothers, Roland, Erwin, Alvin, Virgil, Bruce and Max McCarty; six nieces and nephews and two great-nephews.

Verna was a dedicated worker, and for 30 years was employed by DePuy, Warsaw.  In her spare time, she enjoyed being with her family.  She devoted her life to her children and their activities.  She also enjoyed outdoor work such as gardening and landscaping.

A graveside service will take place at 1 p.m., on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at Leesburg Cemetery.  Rev. Timothy Wesco will officiate.
