Vera Fedorow Umar, 88, of Goshen, died Friday afternoon, February 3, 2012, at Miller's Merry Manor, Syracuse. She was born August 3, 1923, in Milich, Ukraine, to Artem and Tanja (Barsuk) Kuska. She married Nick Fedorow in Germany on March 28, 1949. He died September 19, 1996. She then married Lutfulla Joe Umar in 1967. He died April 22, 2000. She is survived by four daughters, Tanja Spencer of Port Huron, Michigan, Lina Fedorow of Syracuse, Luba May of Columbus, Mississippi and Nina (Sam) Adams of Goshen; three sons, Wesily Fedorow of Jackson, Michigan, Alexander (Connie) Fedorow and David Fedorow, both of Goshen, 33 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and a brother, Peter Kuska of Belarus. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. A Goshen resident since January 31, 1951, Vera worked as a machine operator for Goshen Stamping and as a cook for Maple City Nursing Home. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, February 6, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where an 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2012, funeral service will be conducted. Pastor Fred Curry, Full Gospel Community Church, New Paris, will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to The Window.
