Venita N. Parker, of Wawaka formerly of Goshen, after 102 years on this Earth went home to be with the Lord and Savior she loved and lived to serve, Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at the home of her great-granddaughter.
She was born May 16, 1923 in Wolcottville, LaGrange Co., Indiana to Riley and Ella (Bates) Donat.
On November 12, 1942 she married Rev. James W. Parker in Carlos, Indiana. He went home to the Lord on May 20, 2005.
She is survived by a daughter, Debbra (David) Carter, Howe; three grandchildren, five great- grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Darrel and Rick Parker; and eight sisters, Vera Speicher, Velma Miller, Velva Close, Viola Losh, Velda Holden, Vira Wilson, Vina Antonides and Verona Donat.
Venita was a caregiver and homemaker in every sense of the word. She took care of, not just her family, but every person along the way that needed a loving hand. You could always expect a card, handwritten letter, or (most famously) a letter she crafted on her typewriter. She also loved playing the organ or the piano at church. Her church family was so dear to her heart. The evidence of her strong faith and love for God was present in every aspect of her life. Venita was known for hosting the best dinners for her family and her church and you could always expect her famous apple and pumpkin pies. All over her house you would see items that she handmade or cross-stitched. If she wasn’t busy with all of those things, she was always up for a game, especially SKIP-BO! After 102 blessed years, her life was filled with countless special moments, too many to name, but above all else she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a beloved friend to so many along her incredible travels on this Earth.
Along with being a devoted pastor’s wife, she worked as a secretary at Coachman Industries, Middlebury for several years. Venita also enjoyed working on the family farm near Kimmell for many years.
Visitation will be Monday, July 21, 2025 beginning at 10 a.m. prior to the 12 p.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Pastor Anthony Cottrell, LifePoint Church, Goshen will officiate.
Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery, Kimmell.
