Vasiliy Astakhov

Vasiliy Astakhov, 66, of Elkhart, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, January 21, 2014 at his home of natural causes. He was born September 22, 1947 in Russia to Ivan J. and Vera (Kolometsava) Astakhov. On December 19, 1971 he married Dina Drepin in Russia. She survives along with two sons, Aleksandr (Tatyana), and Yuriy (Tetyana), both of Elkhart; three daughters, Olga Bessonova, of Elkhart, Julia (Tony) Zaluzhniy, of Goshen, and Yana Astakhov, of Three Rivers, Michigan; nine grandchildren; and a brother and sister, Michael and Maria, both of Russia. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Ivan. Mr. Astakhov worked for Adorn in Elkhart as an electrician until his retirement. An 11 a.m. funeral service will be held Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Rev. Daniel Ivanov of Temple of God Grace Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen.
