Valerie F. Abney

Valerie F. Abney, 53, of Goshen, died early Sunday morning, February 20, 2011, at Goshen General Hospital where she had been a patient the last two weeks. She was born in Middletown, Ohio, on February 14, 1958, to the late Lora (Harrington) Abney and Ruby Abney of Bristol Tennessee. She is survived by her longtime companion, Ken P. Carner of Goshen; two daughters, Kristina (Roderick) Reeves of Gulfport, Mississippi, and Brandy (Judd) Metz of Goshen; a son, Edmond J. Abney of Goshen; four grandchildren; three siblings, Toni Ferguson, Dwana Marchand, and Fred (Cindy) Abney, all of Goshen. A homemaker, Valerie enjoyed fishing in local ponds and streams, and especially in the pond at home.  She enjoyed all kinds of music, especially country western and rock. She also enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 24, 2011, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
