Trudy K. Ankney, 62, of Shipshewana, died Tuesday evening, July 24, 2007, at her home after a two year battle with cancer. She was born in Sturgis, Michigan, on November 24, 1944, to Phil and Elsie (Cook) Blanchard. She married Jerry S. Ankney on June 20, 1964, in Sturgis. He survives. Mrs. Ankney, a homemaker, graduated from Sturgis High School and was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sturgis. She enjoyed caring for children and had provided child care for many years in her home and in day care facilities. She is survived by her husband, Jerry; two daughters, Kristine Ankney of Indianapolis and LeAnn Ankney of Shipshewana; two sisters, Joyce (Richard) Hug of Luddington, Michigan, and Jackie Wiles (Bill Luttmann) of Sturgis; and three brothers, Terry (Sue Ann) Blanchard of Spring Lake, Michigan, Tim (Angie) Blanchard of Sturgis, and Kevin Blanchard of Allegan, Michigan. Friends will be received 10 to 1 p.m., Saturday, August 18, at Holy Angels Catholic Church on S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 18, 2007, at Holy Angles Catholic Church, 402 A. Nottawa St., Sturgis, Michigan. Father Richard Altine will officiate. Memorial contributions may be given to Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research through IU Foundation/IUSCC Gifts.
