Troy E. Risser, 51, of Ligonier died Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
He was born Nov. 1, 1966 in Elkhart to Wayne and Etta (Miller) Risser.
On July 29, 1989 he married Donna Nofziger in Goshen.
She survives along with two children, Chelsea Risser of Goshen and Nik Risser of Muncie; his parents, Wayne and Etta Risser of Elkhart; a brother, Eric (Tonya) Risser of Peoria, Arizona; and a sister of Jodi Risser, Elkhart.
Mr. Risser retired after 23 years of teaching from West Noble Primary School, Ligonier. He also served as an assistant athletic director and coached softball and basketball.
He was a member of Benton Mennonite Church, Benton where he sang in the Verse 4 quartet. He enjoyed coaching and watching his kids in many sports activities and would joke with all who knew him. As he was fighting chronic illness, he kept a positive attitude and was an inspiration to those around him.
Friends may call Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018 funeral service at Waterford Mennonite Church, 65975 State Road 15, Goshen. Pastors Doug Kaufman and Brenda Meyer will officiate.
According to his wishes, cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory.
Memorial gifts may be directed to West Noble Primary School or Benton Mennonite Church.
