Tommy H. Stout

Tommy Howard Stout, of Goshen passed away on March 9, 2022, at the age of 88, at Goshen General Hospital. Tom was born on June 3, 1933, in Wells County to Howard and Lucille (Hall) Stout.

Tom graduated from Goshen High School, married Ruby Chapman, and raised his family in Goshen. Tom worked as a draftsman and machinist, then spent decades with CTS Corporation in Elkhart as a tool maker.

Tom was a man of deep faith, integrity, and kindness. His Christian faith was evident in all areas of his life. He worked tirelessly in his local church, served as a volunteer hospital chaplain, and supported hurting people in a variety of ways. Tom was always helping others in ways that generally went unseen. Yet, his influence will be felt for generations. Tom will be remembered as a great husband, father, grandfather, friend, and mentor.

Tom’s wife of 65 years, Ruby (Chapman) Stout, passed away in 2015. Tom was also preceded in death by his infant brother, Carlyn; his parents, Howard and Lucille; an infant son, Benjamin; his son-in-law, David Weitz; and a great-granddaughter, Lily Moilanen.

Tom leaves behind his children, Kathy Weitz, Mark (Janet) Stout, Phillip (Carol) Stout, and Rebecca Mills; grandchildren, Adam (Kristin) Weitz, Jeron (Keith) Gibbons, Andrew (Jenna) Stout, Rebekah (Scott) Moilanen, Nathan (Jennifer) Stout, and Caitlin (Emily Allison) Stout; great-grandchildren London, Addison, Avery, Ainsley, Lucille, Lily, Matthew, Sophia, Isaac, William, and Samuel.

The family will receive visitors Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A family memorial service will take place on Monday with burial at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Ossian, Indiana.
