Thelma Neal

Thelma Neal, 63, of Goshen, died Sunday morning, May 13, 2007, at Goshen General Hospital after a five month battle with cancer.   She was born August 21, 1943, in Jane Lew, West Virginia, to Woodrow Wilson and Thelma Garnett (Goldsmith) Hitt.  She married John Edward Brockleman in 1961 and they divorced.  She then married Martin Lee Neal on December 29, 1984.  He died September 14, 2001.   A Goshen resident since 1979, Mrs. Neal worked as a nurse’s aid for many years at Greencroft and Fountainview. She had also worked as a cashier at Wal-Mart and Menards.  She enjoyed going to re-sale shops and gardening.   She is survived by a son John F. (Sherry) Brockleman of Goshen; a daughter, Reva J. (Clyde) Stickler of Goshen; companion and caregiver, Roy L. Lay of Goshen; four step-sons, Martin (Shanda) Neal, Jr., of Goshen, Mark (Sonja) Neal of Middlebury, Timothy Neal of Arkansas and Stewart Lay of Shipshewana; and a step-daughter, Mary Beth Lay of Elkhart.  Also surviving are six grandchildren; three brothers, Carl (Tisha) Hitt of Manassas, Virginia, Bruce (Mary) Hitt of Florida and Robert (Sharon) Hitt of Weston, West Virginia; and a sister, Linda Smith of Weston, West Virginia.   Friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.   A 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2007, will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.   Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen.   Memorial contributions may be made to the family, c/o Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
