Thelma Lyndon, 92, of Goshen, died early Wednesday morning, April 18, 2007, at Greencroft Healthcare. She was born on November 20, 1914, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to H. Stanley and Maude (Reade) Vaughan. She married Robert C. Lyndon in Dexter, Michigan, on June 12, 1937. He preceded her in death on October 10, 1999. A resident of the area since 1995, Mrs. Lyndon lived most of her life in Dexter, Michigan, until 1977, at which time she wintered in Venice, Florida, and summered in Sugar Spring, Gladwin, Michigan. Mrs. Lyndon worked as office manager in her husband’s business, Lyndon School Photos and Lyndon Color Lab. She also taught school in the commercial department of Litchfield and Dexter High Schools. A member of the First United Methodist Church, Goshen, she graduated from Easter Michigan College and Cleary College in Ypsilanti, Michigan. She was an active member of the Dexter United Methodist Church and the Dexter community. She served as president of the Dexter Women’s Club from 1954 to 1956 and of the Dexter United Methodist Church Ladies Society. She is survived by two daughters-in-law, Karen Lyndon of Goshen, and Linda Lyndon of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, R. Samuel Lyndon on March 15, 2001 and Richard V. Lyndon on January 30, 2004; and a brother, H. Waldron Vaughan. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church, Goshen. Pastoral Assistant, Pam Kling will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Dexter, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richard Lyndon Scholarship Fund or the Bus Ministry of First United Methodist Church, Goshen.
