Terry J. Tyler, age 77, of Goshen, died at The Waters, Wakarusa, on December 5, 2025. He was born on April 18, 1948 to Alexander Joseph and Ardell Lucille (Hass) Tyler.

On June 7, 1969 he married Rebecca Jean Wasson in Craigville, IN. (She preceded him in death on July 9, 2025. Surviving are his sons, Jeremy (Jill) Tyler, Wakarusa, IN; Jeffrey (Traci) Tyler, Lee’s Summit, MO; and a daughter, Kelsey (Ryan) Gernand, Yorktown, IN. Nine grandchildren: Blake and Ava Tyler; Cora, Lincoln, Claire and Elise Tyler; Sophie, Oliver, and Libby Gernand. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jenny Rebecca, and a brother, Jeffrey Tyler.

Also surviving is a sister, Marcia Tyler O’Connell, South Bend, IN; and a brother, Steven (Susan) Tyler, Indianapolis, IN. As well as three nephews and four nieces.

Pastor Tyler graduated from John Adams High School in South Bend, IN; Ball State University; and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He served as a pastor in the Springdale Presbyterian Church in Louisville, KY; Wabash Presbyterian Church in Wabash, IN; Christ Church of Lake Forest in Lake Forest, IL; and Grace Point Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC) in Nappanee for 27 years. He was elected Pastor Emeritus of Grace Point Church in September of 2018. He was also president of an international Christian mission agency for 4 years. During that time he travelled extensively in China, India, Romania, Russia, Zimbabwe, Peru, Nicaragua and other nations. He oversaw the planting and funding of dozens of churches; directed several medical missions; led several international Pastor Training Conferences; and helped several orphanages in Romania and India. He also founded Jesus, The Hope of Romania, in 1990 shortly following the Romanian revolution.

Pastor Tyler served as a volunteer chaplain for over 10 years for the Nappanee Police Department and the Elkhart County Sherriff’s Department.

He was employed for many years at the Yoder-Culp Funeral home in Goshen, IN.

Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home on Friday, December 12, 2025 and from 11-12 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, at Grace Point Church, Nappanee, the funeral service will immediately follow visitation. Cremation will follow the service, and burial at South Union Cemetery, Nappanee, will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be given to Grace Point Church, Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, or Caring Cove Hospice.
