Terry G. Stoner, 66, of Goshen, died early Monday morning, December 16, 2013, at I.U. Health Goshen Hospital after battling melanoma cancer for the past year. He was born May 8, 1947 in Goshen to Charles William "Bill" and Rosemary (Berkey) Stoner, of Elkhart. On August 28, 1993 he married Lou Ann Love in Goshen. She survives along with a daughter, Erin Stoner of Goshen; a son, Thaddeus (Mica) Stoner of Clearwater, Florida; and three sisters, Christie (Keith) Rogers of Brasstown, North Carolina, Shelly Stoner, Laughton, Michigan, and Janel (Dave) Thomas of Goshen. A 1965 graduate of Goshen High School, he served with the US Army in Vietnam. Terry was a member of Jefferson Brethren Church and attended Grace Community Church. Terry worked as a tool and die maker for United Tool and Stamping, Elkhart, and later for Benteler for 22 years. Along with his wife, he owned Maplewoods Property Management and F.C. Tucker Maplewoods Realty Group. Terry was an avid kayaker and fisherman and loved Martin Lake in LaGrange County. He enjoyed traveling, especially to the Rockies, where he hiked Pike's Peak three times. The research department at Goshen Center for Cancer Care was very important to Terry. He was honored to be involved in a study led by Dr. Alex Starodub and the research department. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, December 19, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 20, 2013, funeral service will be conducted. Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be given to I.U. Health Goshen Center for Cancer Care for cancer research.
