Ted Lakin Garman

Ted Lakin Garman, 88, of Goshen, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Greencroft Healthcare.

Ted was born November 18, 1928 in Goshen to Donald and Hazel (Coulter) Garman.

He lived his entire life in Goshen, graduating from Goshen High School in 1946.  He attended Goshen College and graduated from Indiana University in 1957.  Ted proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine from 1951 to 1959.

Ted is survived by his daughters, Sandy (Dwight) Dean of Dallas, Oregon, Sue Ellen (Steve) Rohrer of Tbilisi, Georgia and Patti (Arlyn) Reinhard of Goshen; three grandchildren, Erika (Ben) Watson of Nappanee, Rocky Reinhard of New Haven and Joey Rohrer of Albuquerque, New Mexico; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Robinson of Goshen; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Garman of Cincinnati, Ohio and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eloise; a brother, Don Garman and a brother-in-law, Patrick Robinson.

Ted retired from Goshen Rubber in 1990.  He was an avid golfer who played at Maxwelton until becoming a charter member of Maplecrest Country Club.  He was a long time member of Goshen Elks Club.  As a boy he enjoyed swimming in Stone Lake and as an adult vacationing to the ocean, especially Fort Myers and Bonita Beach, Florida.  He was also a fan of Big Band and Jazz music.

He was a lifelong member of Plymouth United Church of Christ where he served several times as moderator and deacon.  He also served on the Niccum Scholarship Committee for many years and on the board of directors of Cherished Child Day Care.

Friends may call Friday, March 10, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. and again one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, March 11, 2017, all at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Pastor Linda Sue Hewitt will officiate.

Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery.
