Susie Sommers, 85, of Goshen, died at her home early Monday morning, January 7, 2008, after an extended illness. She was born on April 17, 1922, in Miami County, Indiana, to Abe and Susan (Troyer) Keim.  She married Wayne Sommers on February 15, 1942, in Kokomo.  He survives. A homemaker, Mrs. Sommers moved to Elkhart County in 1955.  She was a member of Waterford Mennonite Church where she belonged to the Women’s Sewing Circle.  She loved to sew and quilt and she donated often to the Mennonite Relief Sale. For 20 winters she volunteered at the Rio Grande Bible Institute in Edinburg, Texas.  She also volunteered at World Missionary Press in New Paris. She is survived by her husband, Wayne; three sons, Wayne (Julia) Sommers of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Darrel (Karen) Sommers of Goshen, and Dallas (Susan) Sommers of New Stanton, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Lorraine (Glenn) Reinford of Goshen, and Fern (Dale) Delagrange of Spencerville, Indiana; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray (Clara) Keim of Berne; and two sisters, Elsie Troyer of Greentown and Ellen (Don) Lukeman of Goshen. She was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin Keim and two sisters, Katie Kauffman and Leona Miller. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, January 9, at the funeral home. A memorial service will be conducted at Waterford Mennonite Church on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. A family prayer service will be held prior to the burial and memorial service on Thursday morning.  Pastors Neil Amstutz and Tina Schlabach of Waterford Mennonite Church will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to World Missionary Press or Mennonite Missions Network.
