Susan W. Sanders, 64, of Goshen, passed away Wednesday evening, February 11, 2015 at her home. She was born October 31, 1950 in Evansville to George A. and Elizabeth H. (Haupt) Work. On May 27, 1972 she married Michael Sanders in Evansville. He survives along with a daughter, Katie (Aaron Biddles) Sanders of Goshen; a son, Jeff Sanders of Austin, Texas; a sister, Janet (Robert) Stine of Maplewood, Minnesota; and a brother, William (Jane) Work of Evansville. Sue received both her bachelor's degree in music and master's degree in education from Indiana University, Bloomington. As a student at IU she studied the French horn with instructor Philip Farkas, former principal of the Chicago Symphony. She was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority. Sue began her 36 year teaching career at Brown County High School, continuing as an elementary music teacher in the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation in Columbus, and then in the Goshen Community School Corporation before retiring in 2010. Following retirement she worked in the children's department at the Goshen Public Library. Sue was passionate about worship. She served for many years in the music ministry at First United Methodist Church, Goshen, and was the worship coordinator at the Life Center. She was later a member of the music team at Community Church of Waterford. Sue loved watching IU football and basketball with her husband Mike, and was a member of the IU Varsity Club. She was also a member of Tri Kappa sorority. The family would especially like to thank Dr. Kio and the staff at IU Health Goshen Cancer Center for their care, to First United Methodist Church for the countless meals and support, friends from Goshen Community Schools, retired teachers, Pastor Chris Russell and the music team and staff at Community Church of Waterford. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, February 28 at 3 p.m. at Community Church of Waterford, 65154 C. R. 21, Goshen, with a meal to follow. According to Sue's wishes cremation has taken place at Yoder-Culp Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her honor should be made to Goshen Public Library and directed to "Children's Programming".
