Susan J. Gardner

Susan J. Gardner, 65, of Goshen, died Friday evening, October 5, 2012, at Elkhart Hospice House, where she had recently been admitted. She was born December 24, 1946, in Elkhart, to Stewart F. and Laura (Reid) Gardner. They preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, Laura Dudek and Pamela (Bob) Yoder, both of Goshen; four grandchildren; Zachery and Hailey Dudek and Josiah and Mira Yoder; a sister, Ann Gardner Lempke of Edina, Minnesota, and a brother, Stewart (Karin) Gardner of Bristol. A life time area resident, she worked for several local companies as an accounting clerk. She also did many short term volunteer projects, helped many years with Vacation Bible School, and musicals in Bristol. She was a strong, independent woman with a big heart. She managed the home healthcare and estate of her mother for more than a decade. Visitation will be 2 - 4 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2012, at Jefferson Brethren Church, S.R. 15, Goshen, followed by a 4:30 p.m. funeral service officiated by Pastor Ron Spyker. A fellowship meal will follow at the church. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2012, at West Goshen Cemetery. The Gardner family requests no flowers, and suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice House of Elkhart.
