Susan P. Ellington, 67, of Goshen died Monday evening, April 10, 2017 at The Maples at Waterford Crossing. She courageously lived with thyroid cancer for more than 25 years and stepped into eternity with her loving family by her side.
She was born December 13, 1949 in Asheboro, North Carolina to Sybrant H. and Vivian V. (Wrenn) Pell.
On July 15, 1972 she married Kenneth F. Ellington III in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn (James) Landreau of Cumming, Georgia and Kendra (Aaron) Nafziger of Goshen; and three grandchildren, Alexandra and Carson Landreau, and Luke Nafziger.
Susan lived a life dedicated to sharing her love of music. A local resident since 1992, Mrs. Ellington was an orchestra director for Goshen Community Schools for 18 years. She also directed at schools in; Elkhart, South Bend, Cumberland County, North Carolina, Greenville, South Carolina and Greensboro, North Carolina. Susan continued this passion in retirement as the Executive Director of the Elkhart County Symphony.
Visitation will be Friday, April 14, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 1 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017 funeral service will be conducted at Eighth Street Mennonite Church. Pastor Brenda Sawatzky Paetkau will officiate.
Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
