Steven Carl Roth, 67, of Goshen, died unexpectedly at noon on Sunday, June 7, 2009, at South Bend Memorial Hospital. He was born in Goshen on June 30, 1941, to Isaac Roth and Leta (Phillips) Roth Larimer.  He married Jane A. Snider in New Paris on June 21, 1969.  She survives. A lifetime resident of the area, Mr. Roth took over his father’s dairy farm and farmed until 1987.  From 1987 to 1997 he worked at Dutch Mills Kitchens and then went to work in the electrical department at Lowes where he retired in 2007. A 1959 graduate of Jefferson High School, he was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church and attended Beulah Missionary Church. He was a member of the Elkhart County Holstein Association, 4-H Junior Leaders and the 4-H Dairy Club.  He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed working outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Jane; a daughter, Annette K. (Dan) Strahm of Goshen; a son, Patrick A. Roth of Goshen; two granddaughters, Alyssa and Katherine Strahm; and two brothers, Kermit (Shirley) Roth of Scottdale, Pennsylvania, and Robert Roth of Goshen. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, at the funeral home. A 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 11, 2009, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Brent Poe of the Beulah Missionary Church will officiate. A private family burial will be held at Little Pine Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Heifer Project International.
