With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for the life he lived, we announce the passing of Steven Andrew Hite, a devoted husband, beloved father, grandfather, and faithful follower of Jesus Christ. Steve entered into the presence of his Savior on April 25, 2025, at the age of 61.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Cara Hite (married April 16, 1988), his two sons, Nathan (Madison) Hite and Levi Hite (fiancée Camryn), and his cherished granddaughter, Angela Lyn, born just one day after his passing, a gift he prayed for and eagerly anticipated. He is also survived by his siblings Stephanie Lein (Larry), Stuart Hite (Dana), Scott Frey (Heidi), and his stepmother Diana Hite. He is reunited in glory with his parents, Valerie Frey and Russell Hite.
Steve’s life was a patchwork of creativity, compassion, humor, and unwavering faith. He was a man of many talents, a writer of many books, a translator of the Bible into Spanish, a photographer, actor and even a college vice president. He was a social media influencer, gaining over 40,000 followers on his “What’s In Your Bible” platform. His creative passion spilled over into everything he touched, from designing events and logos, to baking, gardening, and giving away cheesecakes just to make someone’s day. He was a romantic, an adventurer, and a teacher who inspired his sons through Boy Scout trips (he and his boys are all recipients of the prestigious Eagle Scout award), bonfires, and countless stories. He pursued meaning, memories and experiences over earthly treasures. Above all, he was a loving husband, father and a man who sought to live out the Gospel daily through acts of service and prayer.
Visitation will be held from 12:00–2:00 PM on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home in Goshen, Indiana, with a service to immediately follow. He will be laid to rest at Olive Cemetery in Elkhart.
In lieu of flowers, the Hite family would be touched by any support to offset funeral and related expenses during this difficult time. Gifts can be given through Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, via the GoFundMe account: https://shorturl.at/VtQtH , or directly to the family.
Joshua 1:8–9
“8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. 9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
