Steven Scott Greenawalt, 41, of Goshen, died unexpectedly Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Fort Wayne Lutheran Hospital from kidney failure. He was born October 14, 1971 in Goshen to William D. and Christine (Archer) Greenawalt of Goshen. They survive along with two sisters, Becky (Angela Kiser) Greenawalt and Donna (Anthony) Wilson, both of Goshen; two nephews, Anthony Greenawalt and Anthony Kiser, both of Goshen; two nieces, Jamie Goodwin of Elkhart and Jenna Taylor of Goshen; and four good friends, David L. Goodwin and Vicky Wind, both of Goshen; and April and Annie Goodwin, both of Elkhart, and a host of aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Mary Lou and Donald Greenawalt, Kenneth Archer, Marlene Knight, and Dortha and Cecil Archer. A 1991 graduate of Goshen High School, he graduated from Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 2004. He earned a bachelor's degree from Trine University in criminal justice in 2010 and a master's degree from Brown Mackie in 2012. Steven worked for Goshen Rubber and served as vice president of United Steel Workers. He was a dedicated deputy marshal of the Wakarusa Police Department and served on the Elkhart County Cadets. Steven loved his four legged friends, Daisy, Abby, Pepe and Angel. He also enjoyed doing yard work. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m., Friday, April 12, 2013, funeral service will be conducted. Police Chaplain David Harper of Wakarusa will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fraternal Order of Police.
