Stella E. Blosser

Stella E. Blosser, 83, of Goshen, died at her home early Friday morning, May 7, 2010. She was born in Aberdean, South Dakota, on May 23, 1926, to Alphaeus and Elnora (Horst) Yoder.  She married Emerson E. Blosser on August 10, 1968 in Goshen.  He survives. Also surviving are a son, Marc E. (Angela) Blosser and a daughter, Tricia E. Blosser, both of Goshen; two grandsons, Ryan and Brenden Blosser; and five siblings, Vera Kurtz of Smithville, Ohio, Helen Yoder of Logansport, Chester (Esther) Yoder of Harrisonburg, Virginia, and Melvin (Betty) Yoder and Margaret (Richard) Oyer, both of Goshen. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Effie Geisinger and Luella Leighty and a brother, Ivan Yoder. A resident of the area since 1964, Mrs. Blosser taught 3rd grade and kindergarten in the Westview School System from 1964 to 1971and substituted in various school systems.  She had also worked for MBM Missions in Elkhart and as an assistant to a radiologist in Wooster, Ohio. A member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church, Goshen, she graduated from Goshen College in 1964 and from St. Francis College with her master’s degree in 1971.  She had also earned an associate’s degree in Bible from Easter Mennonite College.  Mrs. Blosser was very musical, singing in choirs and gospel teams. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 10, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. A 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 11, 2010, funeral service will be conducted at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, Goshen.  Pastors Ron Diener and Tyler Hartford will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Pleasant View Mennonite Church for Children’s Department.
