Stella Binkele

Stella Binkele Stella Binkele, 94, of Goshen, died early Sunday morning, March 5, 2006, at Greencroft Healthcare.   She was born June 30, 1911 in Pigeon, Michigan, to Christian D. and Catherine (Marner) Kauffman.  On August 18, 1939, in Goshen she married Otto Binkele.  He died November 18, 1954.   Mrs. Binkele was Head Librarian for Goshen Public Library for 12 years.  She had also worked for the Plymouth Public Library and Goshen College Library.   She was a member of the First United Methoidst Church, the Women’s Club of Goshen, the American Association of University Women, and the Business and Professional Women.  A Goshen College graduate, she received her BLS degree from the University of Illinois.   Mrs. Binkele is survived by a son, Richard (Barbara) Binkele of Armonk, New York.   She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Dora Hertzler and Mary Wickerham; and four brothers, Milton, Frank, Otis, and Irvin Kauffman.   Friends will be received 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 8, at The Meetinghouse at Greencroft.    An 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2006, memorial service will be held at The Meetinghouse.  Greencroft Chaplain Mary Grove will officiate.    Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier.   Memorial contributions may be made to the Greencroft Foundation.
