Stanley M. Miller, 75, of Goshen, died at his home late Thursday morning, July 6, 2006. He was born in California on July 19, 1930, to William E. and Fern (Frey) Miller, Sr. On June 6, 1945, he married Violet “Vi” I. Miller Hurst in Goshen at the First United Methodist Church. She survives. Mr. Miller has lived in Goshen for nine years, coming from Topeka where he had worked in the family owned grocery store, Miller & Sons IGA, for 50 years. He had also worked for the Topeka Fire Department for 35 years and served as Fire Chief for 25 of those years. He also worked at Fast Lane, Topeka for many years. He attended College Mennonite Church for the last eight years, having attended Topeka Baptist for 40 years. Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Vi; a son, Gregory L. (Carol) Miller of Holly, New York; a daughter, Jacqueline R. Miller of Goshen; seven grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Miller of Topeka. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, July 9, from 2 to 6 p.m. An 8:30 a.m., prayer service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral, on Monday, July 10, followed by burial in Violett Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 10, 2006, at the College Mennonite Church, Goshen. Pastor Klaudia Smucker of the College Mennonite Church will officiate. Memorial contributions may be given to the College Mennonite Church, United Cancer Services of Elkhart County or to the Topeka Fire Department.
