Stanley J. Hochstetler

September 18, 1934 — February 14, 2021

Stanley J. Hochstetler, 86, of Goshen passed away peacefully Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Greencroft Healthcare.  He had struggled with Parkinson’s disease.

He was born to Jesse and Rubedean Hochstetler on September 18, 1934.

He married Elaine Schweitzer from Iowa on September 4, 1954.

Stanley started out in construction and owned Stanway Floor Covering, laying down carpet, vinyl and ceramic tile.  Later on he worked for Goshen Plumbing and Heating.  He grew up on a farm so he always enjoyed the sound of a tractor, keeping track of the growing season and anything that had John Deere on it.  He enjoyed tending to his garden and doing puzzles.  He was a kind and humorous, hard working husband, father, grandfather and great-grandpa who enjoyed being with family.  He was a member of LifePoint Church.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elaine; four children, Steve (Colleen) Hochstetler of Chandler, Arizona, Karla (David) Brenneman of Elkhart, Kevin (Ruth) Hochstetler of Goshen and Lynette (Barry) Kauffman of Goshen; 13 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Beatrice (Richard) Martin and Marietta (Leroy) Slabach.

Visitation will be Friday, May 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  A private family memorial service will be held Saturday, May 22, at Life Point Church, Goshen.  Pastor Troy Scott will officiate.

Private burial will follow.

Memorial donations may be given to Life Point Church.
