Sophia E. Moore, 92, of Columbus, North Carolina, died Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Hospice of Carolina Foothills, Landrum, South Carolina. She was born December 27, 1918 in Ottawa, Ohio, to the late Harry and Florence (Fletcher) Brenneman. She married Ralph Moore June 15, 1941 in Continental, Ohio. He died October 31, 1979. She is survived by five daughters, Dee Kay (Leroy) Cramer of Goshen, Janet Rae (JB Oliver) Moore of Warrenton, Virginia, Sherrill Ann (Donald) Graber of Richmond, Beverly June Stalter of Columbus, North Carolina and Maureen (Neil) Driedger of Wadheim, Saskatchewan, Canada; a son, Ralph "David" (Holly) Moore of Algonquin, Illinois; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a sister, Juanita (Leon) Nafziger of Goshen, and a brother, Leroy Brenneman of Mishawaka. She was preceded in death by a sister, Erma Jenkins and three brothers, Clyde, Donald and Harry Brenneman, Jr. A Goshen resident since 1945, Mrs. Moore was a member of Waterford Mennonite Church. A nurse, Mrs. Moore, along with her husband, owned and operated Moore Nursing Home, Goshen. She also worked as a staff nurse at Goshen and Elkhart Hospitals, served as Director of Nursing at Fairmoor Nursing Home, Elkhart, and worked as a nursing service consultant with Garatoni & Associates, Mishawaka. She taught nursing at Southwestern Michigan College, Dowagiac, Michigan and Ivy Tech, South Bend. She was honored in 1958 as the district "Nurse of the Year". Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, October 20, and one hour prior to the 11 a.m., Friday, October 21, 2011, service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Tina Schlabach will officiate. Burial will be 4 p.m., Friday, October 21, 2011, at Salem Mennonite Cemetery, Elida, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Carolina Foothills.
