Sherwood Russell Cripe, 74, of Syracuse, passed away at his home early Saturday morning, December 22, 2012. He had been in failing health for the past three months. Mr. Cripe was born in Goshen October 7, 1938, to Russell S. and Violette (Kettering) Cripe. He lived in this area his whole life. He is survived by three sons; Jerry S. (Nelda) Cripe and Chad R. Cripe, both of Syracuse, and Greg L. (Elizabeth) Cripe of Bristol; five grandchildren, John, Steven, and Scott Cripe, Angel Smith and Jamie Jarausch; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Deborah Jarausch; and three sisters, Jacqueline Cobbs, Sharon Pike and Gwendolyn Donat. Mr. Cripe worked as a body shop manager for 10 years at Bob Ford and as a younger man played in a band called "The Dukes." Friends may call from 1-2 p.m., Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Violett Cemetery immediately following visitation hours. Memorial contributions may be given to I.U. Health Goshen Center for Cancer Care.
