Sharon Rose Bontrager, 57, died Thursday morning, December 10, 2009, at Goshen General Hospital, where she was a patient since November 30, 2009. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2004. She was born on April 11, 1952, in Elkhart, to George Jacob and Verna Faye (Weldy) Cross, they both survive. She married Larry A. Bontrager on April 24, 1971, at Salem Mennonite Church, New Paris. He preceded her in death on May 7, 1991. Mrs. Bontrager owned and operated the Market Street Guest House, Nappanee, since 1994. She graduated from Bethany Christian High School in 1970 and was a very involved member of Maple City Chapel. She loved music, and she sang with a bluegrass group called Jubilee Road. She is survived by three daughters, Becky (Eliseo) Roa, Nappanee, Jane (Marlowe) Yoder, Amber Regina (Cameron) Pauls, both of Goshen; one son, Dalton (Shana) Bontrager, Millersburg; one sister, Carol (Les) Shetler, Shipshewana; four brothers, Charles (Agnes) Cross, David (Martha) Cross, both of Goshen, Lavern (Rosalyn) Cross, Middlebury, Dean (Colleen) Cross, Milford, Nebraska; and 11 grandchildren. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, December 12 and 13, 2009, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 2 p.m., Monday, December 14, 2009, memorial service will be held at Maple City Chapel, Goshen. A private burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be made out to United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
