Scott G. Shannon, 71, of Millersburg died unexpectedly Monday, March 17, 2025 at his home of natural causes.
He was born September 17, 1953 in Goshen to Robert and Marilyn (Jensen) Shannon.
On June 6, 1976 he married C. Jean Otto in New Paris.
She survives along with his mother, Marilyn of Syracuse; step-mother, Kay Shannon Collins of Wawaka; a son, Sean Shannon of Syracuse; grandchildren, Madeline, Ethan and KayLee; and two sisters, Connie Spillman of Elkhart and Teresa Huffer of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A 1972 Wawasee High School graduate, Mr. Shannon worked in several local industries, including Syracuse Rubber and Forest River/Coachman, Middlebury manufacturing.
Scott was an avid Rendezvous camper, pre-1840’s style camping. He was a member of the Stones Trace Regulators, Menominee Muzzle Loaders and the Pokagon Longrifles. His hobbies included shooting muzzle loading rifles and “candy canons” for children. Scott loved bartering with people to find the best ways to help others.
He was a member of the Burr Oak Church, Ligonier, where he served as a trustee.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 20, 2025 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen and again on Friday, March 21 from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service. Family friend, Rev. Dick Carpenter will officiate.
Burial will follow at Solomon Creek Cemetery, Syracuse.
Memorial gifts may be directed to Stones Trace Regulators or Burr Oak Church.
