Sanford E. Peachey, 75, of Goshen, went to be with his Lord Wednesday evening, January 25, 2012. He had been in declining health the past year. He was born December 12, 1936 in Belleville, Pennsylvania, to the late Aaron J. and Katie (Peachey) Peachey. He married Mary Harshberger in November 1956. She survives. Also surviving are two children, Roger (Lori) Peachey and Sandy (Bruce) Slabaugh, both of Goshen; six grandchildren, Ryan (Jessica) Peachey, Allen (Jenae) Peachey, Kevin Peachey, Liza Slabaugh, Becca Slabaugh and Mariah Slabaugh; and a brother, Earl (Virginia) Peachey of Galesburg, Illinois. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Urie Peachey. Mr. Peachey moved to the area in 1985 from Rittman, Ohio. A graduate of Ivy Tech, Peoria, Illinois, he worked as a mechanic on diesel trucks until retiring in 1998. A faithful member of Sunnyside Mennonite Church, Sanford volunteered with MDS on many projects and mission trips. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, January 27, at Sunnyside Mennonite Church, 23786 Sunnyside Ave., Elkhart, where a 2 p.m., Saturday, January 28, 2012, memorial service will be conducted. Pastors Terry Zehr and Melissa Fisher-Fast will officiate. Private family burial will be at Frame Cemetery, Elkhart. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Sunnyside Mennonite Church or Mennonite Disaster Service.
