Sandra L. Martin, 68, of Topeka, went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 1, 2013 at I.U. Health Goshen Hospital after a year and a half battle with leukemia. She was born May 16, 1945 in Monahans, Texas, to Charles Sr. and Betty J. (Carroll) Glass. She married Dallas L. Martin July 11, 1970. He survives along with two daughters, Sharon (Keith) Shiltz, of LaGrange, and Christina (Peter) Carpenter, of Goshen; a son, Kenneth (Tina) Martin, of LaGrange; six grandchildren, Nicole and Ashley Miller, Clark and Conner Carpenter and Audrianna and Derrick Martin; and a brother, Charles W. (Nancy) Glass Jr., of Jamestown, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents and her father-in-law, Monroe Junior Martin A 1963 graduate of Wellsville High School, Wellsville, Ohio, and Malone College, Aultman Hospital School of Nursing in Canton, Ohio, and the University of Michigan, School of Anesthesia. She worked at Miller's Merry Manor in LaGrange, LaGrange County EMS and for Dr. Evan Thompson for ten years. She was a 4-H leader and advisor for the Topeka Happy Workers and Mini Helpers 4-H Clubs for 25 years in LaGrange County. She also volunteered at I.U. Health Goshen Hospital for three years in day surgery and making baby hats She was an active member of Maple Grove Church, Topeka. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. both Saturday, August 3, and Sunday, August 4, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m., funeral service on Monday, August 5, 2013 at Maple Grove Church. Pastor Barry St. Clair will officiate. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Topeka.
