Sandra L. Deters

Sandra L. Deters, 80, of Goshen,  died Friday, February 4, 2022, at Majestic Care of Goshen.

She was born January 25, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Sylvester and Evelyn (Hummer) Smith.

On April 17, 1961 she married Claude J. Deters in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He died August 7, 2003.

She is survived by two sons, John (Charlene) Deters, Goshen and Robert (Cindy) Deters, Wyetheville, Virginia; a daughter-in-law, Amy Deters, Goshen; six grandchildren, Chris, JohnMichael, Timothy, Matthew (Jessica), Chase Deters and Jonathon (Claire) Veasey-Deters; and two great-grandchildren, Riley and Ella Mae Deters.

Other survivors include a sister, Susan (Michelle DeLash) Smith, Fennville, Michigan and a brother, Peter (Georgine) Smith of Arizona.

Along with her parents and husband, Sandra was preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine Deters; two sons, James and Mark Deters; and two brothers, Martin and David Smith.

Mrs. Deters worked as an office manager for Coast R.V., Elkhart. After leaving Coast R.V. Sandy opened her own business, making and selling vinyl dolls at Sandy’s Doll World. She enjoyed decorating her home each Christmas with her Christmas Village collection; which grew larger each year.

A memorial service is planned for Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, with visitation prior beginning at 10:30 a.m. Father Bob Van Kempen, St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Bristol will officiate.

Inurnment will follow at St. Joe Cemetery, South Bend.
