Sandra L. Carter

Sandra L. Carter, 74, of Bluffton, formerly of Goshen passed away on Mon., Aug. 12 at Stillwater Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.

She was born January 18, 1950, in Chelyan, West Virginia, to Robert and Phyllis (Perry) Hodge.

Sandra married Randale Thompson March 15, 1973 in Perrysburg, West Virginia. He passed away in 1989. Her second marriage was to Curtis Junior Carter October 16, 1989, in Goshen. He passed away in 2007.

Surviving is daughter, Angel (Larry) Crist, Goshen; son, Randale L. (Anita Moore) Thompson II, Bluffton; seven grandchildren, Cory Thompson, James Crist, Heather Fernandez, Serena Crist, Juliann Wilson, Elliot Thompson, and Aubrey Thompson; and her 10 great-grandchildren who were a blessing to her.

She is also survived by three brothers, Robert (Sandi) Hodge Jr. of Garner, North Carolina, Elton (Katherine) Hodge of Eskdale, West Virginia, and Darrell (Renee) Hodge of Pratt, West Virginia; and a brother-in-law, Philip (Howie) Howell of South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her first and second husband, and parents.

Sandra was an excellent seamstress and crafter. She enjoyed crocheting, making wreaths, and working on jigsaw puzzles.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a great joy to her. She loved to shower family with homemade candy, especially at Christmas time.

Visitation will take place Sunday, August 18, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. An 11 a.m. funeral service will take place on Monday, August 19, also at the funeral home. Pastor Jim Brown from Grace Community Church will officiate.

Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
