Samuel Raymond Wyse, 80, of Goshen, died Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at IU Health Goshen Hospital. He was born June 13, 1931 in Wayland, Iowa to Ray and Velma (Raber) Wyse. He grew up on a working farm with his brother Charles. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn; three children, Carla Shively, Goshen, Todd (Lucinda) Wyse, Elkhart, and Crystal Wyse, Goshen; four grandchildren, Allison (Chris) Snider, Kyle Wyse, Grant Shively and Devyn Shively; and a brother, Charles (Martha) Wyse, Wayland, Iowa. After graduating from high school, Sam followed the wheat harvest out west for a season. He moved to Goshen to work on his uncle John Raber's farm after two years of 1W service in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He then began working at Kropf Manufacturing Company, where he met Marilyn Kropf, and they were married August 11, 1957. After 18 years, he was offered a position with Carriage, Inc. in Millersburg, where rose to the position of Director of Purchasing. Several years before retiring from Carriage, Inc. in 2004, he stepped down from purchasing and began conducting tours of the Carriage facility, allowing him to fully utilize his warm personality, quick wit, and love for interacting with people. He attended Believers Fellowship in Goshen. Friends may call 1-5 p.m. Sunday, February 26 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. An 11:30 a.m., Monday, February 27, 2012, memorial service will be held at Voice Ministries, 1610 South Nappanee Street, Elkhart. Pastor Don Layman, personal family friend, will officiate. Sam's wish was to be cremated. Burial of his cremains at West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen, will follow immediately after the memorial service.
