Samuel L. Moyer, 76 of Goshen went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Friday, Feb. 14 at Greencroft Healthcare.
He was born October 5, 1943 in Sellersville, Pennsylvania to Abram and Martha (Overholt) Moyer.
On June 2, 1964 he married Jean F. Lehman at the Goshen College Seminary Chapel by Harold E. Bauman, the campus pastor.
Jean survives along with their children, Janet F. (Bob) Waldusky, John S. (Angie) Moyer and Mark D. (Rachael) Moyer, all of Goshen; nine grandchildren, Melissa Affolder, Jennifer Hernandez, Joel Moyer, Christina Moyer, Jacob Moyer, Erika Moyer, Daniel Moyer, Luke Moyer and Joshua Moyer; and four great-granddaughters.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his only brother, David O. Moyer of Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
Sam received three bachelor’s degrees, English in 1965, Divinity in 1969 and Nursing in 1975 all from Goshen College. He worked as a registered nurse at Goshen Hospital in I.C.U. for 25 years and Cardiac Rehab for 5 years. Sam enjoyed his nursing career very much.
Sam had shared that he wanted all to know that God provided Jesus Christ to pay our sin debt on the cross. God raised Jesus to life so we could have eternal life. See St. John 14:6 for the way to peace and hope and a future home in heaven.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The June 27 service has been postponed due to family circumstances.
A private burial has taken place at Yellow Creek North Cemetery, Goshen.
Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
