Samuel Hostetler, 90, of Goshen, died Thursday afternoon, March 8, 2012, at Greencroft Healthcare. He was born February 24, 1922 in Goshen to the late Samuel G. and Mattie (Hershberger) Hostetler. He married Dorothy E. Livengood, September 18, 1943 in Goshen. She preceded him in death January 18, 1998. Surviving are two daughters, Deloris (Clifford) Zehr of St., John's, Michigan and Debra Hochstetler of Bremen; five sons, Donald (Ruth) Hostetler of Goshen, Glen (Julie) Hostetler of Wakarusa, Gerald Hostetler of Louisville, Kentucky, Marvin (Donnita) Hostetler of Des Moines, Iowa and Willie (Kim) Hostetler of Elkhart; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jake Hostetler of Goshen and LeRoy (Carolyn) Hostetler of Middlebury. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ronald Zehr; and eight siblings, Mary Leedy, Irene Culp and John, Monroe, Bill, Dan, Harley and Katie Ann Hostetler. A longtime area resident, he was a member of North Goshen Mennonite Church and had worked at Universal Co-op for more than 28 years. He also pastored the Talcum Mennonite Church, Talcum, Kentucky from 1952-56 and the Bethany Mennonite Church, Imlay City, Michigan from 1960-1966. Following retirement he worked part-time at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 13 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2012, funeral service will be held at North Goshen Mennonite Church with Pastors Jerry Wittrig and June Yoder officiating. Burial will follow in West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to North Goshen Mennonite Church.
