Samuel L. Good, 62, of New Paris, died early Thursday afternoon, September 25, 2008, at his home. He had been ill since June. He was born in Goshen, on April 12, 1946, to Jacob and Blanche (Sharp) Good. He married Judith A. Sheets on June 2, 1968 in New Paris. She survives. A lifetime area resident, he worked as a truck driver for General Telephone for 26 years, and at Kinro after his retirement from the phone company. He was a member of the Bethany Church of the Brethren, Michiana Horseshoe Leagues, and National High School Pitchers’ Association. A collector, he enjoyed fishing and horseshoe pitching. He is survived by two daughters, Darla (Joel) Conrad of New Paris, and Wendy (Mark) Swihart of Williamsville, New York; three sons, Jeremy (Sheri) Good of Noblesville, Indiana, Joseph (Candace) Good of Kokomo, Indiana, and Matthew (Amber) Good of Arcadia, Indiana; 13 grandchildren; and a brother, Ronald (Sandra) Good of Goshen. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leland D. Good. Friend may call 2 to 8 p.m., Monday, September 29, at the funeral home and from 9 to 10 a.m., Tuesday at the church. A Tuesday, September 30, 2008, funeral service will be held at the Bethany Church of the Brethren, starting at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Tim Sollenberger-Morphew will officiate. Burial will be in Baintertown Cemetery in Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Goshen Center for Cancer Care for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
