Ruth Elinor Stiver, 87nor of Fort Collins, former longtime resident of Goshen, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2015 at Spring Creek Healthcare Center, Fort Collins, Colorado. Ruth was born on January 11, 1928 to George and Mary Richardson in Peoria, Illinois. She grew up in Decatur, Illinois where she graduated from Decatur High School in 1946 and later, James Milliken University in Decatur, Illinois in 1950. While attending Milliken, she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. From 1957 until 1962, she was employed by WTVP Television as the Romper Room Teacher for the nationally syndicated television show, "The Romper Room." While living in Decatur, Ruth was a member of the Junior Welfare Association of Decatur and on the Board of Directors of the Decatur Parks and Recreation Department. In 1962, she married James Stiver (1921-2008) of Goshen, Indiana and resided in Goshen until 2007 before moving to Fort Collins, Colorado. While living in Goshen, Ruth was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, The Library Club of Goshen, and Tri Kappa Association. She is survived by her children: William Stepp of New York, New York; Robin Van Rooyen of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Jamie (Stiver) and Lance Reisman of Fort Collins, Colorado. She also leaves her two grandchildren: Kyle Reisman of Walla Walla, Washington and Peyton Reisman of Fort Collins, Colorado. A private ceremony will be held at a later date.
