Ruth Irene Sellers

Ruth Irene Sellers, 81, of Syracuse, died late Wednesday evening, June 10, 2009, at Miller’s Merry Manor where she had been a resident since February 2009. She was born in Goshen on November 27, 1927, to Theodore E. and Arvesta G. (Wyland) Wheeler. A lifetime resident of the Goshen/Syracuse area, she was co-owner of The Ivy Hut Flower Shop in Syracuse for many years.  She also worked at the Farmers Exchange in New Paris, and the Goshen Hospital Pantry. A former active member of the Goshen Ladies Elks Club, she enjoyed baking, reading, flower gardening and crocheting. She is survived by three daughters, Susan E. McClish of New Paris, Christine “Tina” A. (Robert) Reid of Goshen, and Debra I. Kuhn of Syracuse; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley A. Witmer of Goshen. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Larry; an infant daughter, Kathy I; two sisters, Hollis M. Strang and Mary Edith Wheeler; a brother, Carl G. Shephard; and a niece, Linda K. Strang. Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, June 14, 2009, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 4:00 p.m., Celebration of Life service will be held.  Pastor John Hickey of Trinity Lutheran Church, Goshen will officiate. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.
