Ruth V. Roth

Ruth Verelda Roth, 82, of Goshen, died late Sunday afternoon, May 27, 2007, at her home after a two year illness.   She was born September 12, 1924, in Eureka, Illinois, to Walter and Alvina (Wagner) Zook.  She married Oscar Roth on August 12, 1950, in Eureka, Illinois.  He survives.   A 1950 graduate of Goshen College and a resident of Goshen since 2005 when she came from Lombard, Illinois, Mrs. Roth was an elementary school teacher at Arbor View Elementary in Glen Ellen, Illinois and at Strycker Community Schools near Archbold, Ohio.   Mrs. Roth was a member of the College Mennonite Church where she was a member of the choir.  She also belonged to the Illinois Teacher Association and the cancer support group at the Center for Cancer Care of Goshen Health Systems.   She is survived by her husband, Oscar, a daughter, Patricia (Hermann) Nuyken of Goshen; two sons, Randall (Mary) Roth of DeMoines, Iowa and Evan (Grace) Roth of Littleton, Colorado; five grandchildren; and a brother, Stanley (Marvel) Zook of Moab, Utah.   Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 31, in the Koinonia Room at College Mennonite Church.   A 10:30 a.m., memorial service will be held on Friday, June 1, 2007, at College Mennonite Church.  Rev. Klaudia Smucker and Rev. Firman Gingerich will officiate.   Burial will be held in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.   Memorial contributions may be made to College Mennonite Church or Lombard Mennonite Church.
