Ruth Meyer

Ruth Meyer, 100, of Goshen, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 16, 2014, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing. She was born July 15, 1913 in Zwickau, Germany, to Georg and Margarete (Bernstein) Schilling. On December 9, 1939 she married Siegfried Meyer in Zwickau, Germany. He died January 13, 1994. She is survived by a son, Peter (Marilyn) Meyer of Syracuse; two granddaughters, Debra Miller and Vicky Scelzo; two great-grandchildren; and extended family in Germany, in particular, Rosi Maas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her siblings. Our memories will keep Mom in our hearts for being a good mother, hard worker, excellent cook and housekeeper and for being very independent. She fell in love with a stray cat that showed up at her door. She named him Sigi, Dad's nickname, the love of her life. Mom has reached the "Finish Line", may she rest in peace. A 3:30 p.m., Sunday, April 27, 2014, memorial service will be conducted at Grace United Methodist Church, New Paris. Rev. Rob Nelson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church, New Paris.
