Ruth E. Liechty

Ruth E. Liechty, 89, of Goshen, died Friday, January 13, 2012, at Greencroft Healthcare. She was born in Goshen on November 19, 1922 to the late Allen and Sophia (Ummel) Yoder. She married John H. Liechty. He preceded her in death. She is survived by her three children, Bonnie (Stan) King, John Allen Liechty and Daniel (Mary) Liechty, all of Goshen; five grandchildren; two great-granddaughters, and two brothers, Al (Marie) Yoder, Jr. of Middlebury, and Dale Yoder of Goshen. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Liechty; a great-granddaughter, Acacia King; two sisters and six brothers. A member of College Mennonite Church, Goshen, Ruth graduated from Millersburg High School and attended Goshen College. She enjoyed meeting people, took an interest in them and participated in and took active roles in school, community and church activities in Smithville, Ohio, and in Goshen. Her pleasure in books and reading extended to circulation desk work for several years at Goshen Public Library. A memorial service will be held later in February at College Mennonite Church, Goshen. Inurnment will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Goshen College or Goshen Public Library.
