Ruth Esther Delp

Ruth E. Delp, 74, of Goshen, passed away at her home Monday morning, January 26, 2015. She had been ill since January 2014. She was born June 1, 1940 in Bayport, Michigan to Benjamin J. and Sadie (Ropp) Beachy. On August 18, 1962 she married Earl R. Delp, Jr. in Pigeon, Michigan. He survives along with a daughter, Shana (James) O'Dell of Goshen; two sons, Eric (Fumiko) Delp of Union, Kentucky and Joel (Kimberly) Delp of Quito, Ecuador; seven grandchildren, Brianne, Bailey and Braedyn O'Dell, Sheena and Reenna Delp and Simeon and Esther Delp; three brothers, Vernon (Marian) Beachy of Pigeon, Michigan, Eldon (Joanne) Beachy of Caseville, Michigan and Roy (Audrey) Beachy of Elkton, Mich igan; and three sisters, Doris (Charles) Willingham of Sarasota, Florida and Judith (Ernest) Martin and Sharyl (Eldon) Kurtz, both of Harrisonburg, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Margaret Pamer and Leona Huscher. A registered nurse, Mrs. Delp worked at Geneva Memorial Hospital in Ohio for 30 years, IU Heath Goshen Hospital for four years and Lewistown Hospital in Pennsylvania for three years. An area resident since 1995, Ruth was an active member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church where she was a ministry leader for lay visitation. She also served on the prayer team and the library committee. Friends may call Saturday, January 31, 2015, from 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. graveside service at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, Goshen. A 3 p.m. memorial service will follow at the church. Pastors Tyler Hartford and Ron Diener will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Santiago Partnership, www.santiagopartnership.org.
