Ruth Burmeister

Ruth (Brubacher) Burmeister, age 97, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024 at her home in Goshen. She was born December 11, 1926 in Elkhart County, Indiana, the oldest daughter of William and Annie S. (Weaver) Brubacher.

On Sept. 5, 1954 she married Henry F. Burmeister of Los Angeles, California.  They were married 70 years. He survives with three daughters: Rebecca (Louis) Robles, Sharon (Bruce) Munn, and Cynthia (Rory) Comstock; five grandsons; and four great-grandchildren. Additional survivors are four sisters, Emma Zimmerman, Florence (Vernard) Guengerich, Naomi ( Alvin) Martin and Esther (Steve) Walter; one brother, Wayne (Joyce) Brubacher, and two sisters-in-law, Lydia Brubacher and Lydia Zimmerman.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, John Brubacher and Paul Brubacher; sisters, Susie Zimmerman and Wilma Shaum; and her son-in-law, Louis Robles.

Ruth was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and foster mother to infants. She enjoyed gardening and being a homemaker, as well as, participating in church activities and women’s groups. She had the gift of hospitality and a passion for entertaining and cooking for her family, her friends and church family. Henry and Ruth also enjoyed traveling to multiple countries and places together. She cared deeply for others and walked faithfully with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Visitation is Friday, November 15, 2024 from 10 a.m. to noon at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A short graveside service at Violett Cemetery will take place afterward.
