Rusty A. Elliott, 50, of Goshen, was promoted to glory Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend from a number of unforeseen health complications.
He was born July 22, 1967 in Elkhart to Roger Elliott and Carol (Newcomer) Elliott Hope.
On May 9, 1998 he married Rochelle Yoder in Goshen.
She survives along with four children, Zech (Becca) Elliott of Lima, Ohio and Stephanie, Travis and Laura Elliott, all of Goshen; two grandchildren, Tyler and Josie Elliott and two sisters, Mindy (Gary) Hall of South Bend and Misty McBride of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He played football and wrestled at Northwood High School where he graduated in 1986. He was an over the road truck driver for 18 years.
Rusty held a position of coach, volunteer, friend and management team member of Elkhart County Special Olympics. He was also a soldier/member at The Salvation Army for 22 years.
He was a very giving and selfless person who didn’t know a stranger. He truly displayed Jesus’ example of loving others no matter what and without judgement. He always had a joke to share and wanted to make people smile.
Friends may call Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to 11 a.m., Thursday, March 15, 2018, funeral at The Salvation Army, Goshen. Majors Tim and Sally Sell will officiate.
Cremation will follow the service.
Memorials may be given to Elkhart County Special Olympics.
