Russell B. Owens, 82, died Monday night, December 14, 2009, at the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Elkhart.  He was born on June 4, 1927, in Goshen, to the late Marion and Eunice (Shoup) Owens.  He married Phyllis Curtland on September 11, 1964, in Goshen.  She survives.  Mr. Owens worked for over 50 years with General Motor Corporation.  He worked as a service manager in Indiana, Colorado, and Arizona.  During that time he was also part of the Goshen Police Department.  He was a member of the American Legion Post # 143, Bristol, and the DAV Post #15, in Goshen.  He served as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps from August 1945 to August 1946.  A 1945 graduate of Goshen High School, Mr. Owens attended Elkhart Business College.  He is survived by four sons, Mike (Mary) Owens, Laguna Hills, California, Richard “Rick” Neumann, Goshen, Michael (Shiela) Neumann, Kingman, Arizona, Jeff (Vickie) Owens, Warsaw; four daughters, Jessica (Bobby Rias) Holler, Rhonda (Lloyd) LeCount, Susan Neumann Rutley, all of Goshen, Jennifer (Tripp) Starnes, Bonita Springs, Florida; 25 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.  Friends may call from 5-8 p.m., Friday, December 18, 2009 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. An 11 a.m., Saturday, December 19, 2009, funeral service (with military honors) will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Tonda Martin, Chaplain at the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care will be officiating.  Burial will be at a later date in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen.  Memorials may be made out to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Elkhart.
