Rudy Dean Whitsit, 60, of Goshen, died Saturday afternoon, September 26, 2009, at Goshen General Hospital. He had been in failing health the last several years. He was born on January 5, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Jesse James and Anna Mary (Travis) Whitsit. He served in the US Navy as a fireman from 1968 to 1970 aboard the USS Suribachi. He was an avid hunter of white tail deer and small game. He enjoyed both fresh and salt water fishing. He is survived by two daughters, Sarah Whitsit and Shanna (Marion) Bontrager, both of Goshen; companion, Lynn Latoski of Goshen; four grandchildren; a brother, Arlen (Mary) Whitsit of Colorado; a sister, Rosemary (Daryl) Carpenter of Spencer, Indiana; and a half brother, John Delucenay of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Ronnie, Louie and Roger Whitsit. Friends may call 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, October 3, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 2:00 p.m., memorial service will be conducted by Pastor Jim Shrock of First Baptist Church, Goshen.
