Roy Edington, 74, of Elkhart, died Wednesday morning, May 5, 2010, at Elkhart General Hospital where he had been a patient one week after a sudden illness at home. He was born in Middlesex, England, on December 29, 1935, to Harold and Martha Alice (Allan) Edington. He is survived by a daughter, Nicola (Alan) Wheelwright of Halifax, West Yorkshire, England; a step-son, Glen (Kacy) Elijah of Goshen; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean (Derek) Hales of Newton-le-Willows, England; a niece and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fern Marie Elijah on September 16, 2004; and a daughter, Gillian Edington in 1986. An Elkhart resident since 1966, he served with the military police in the British Army after attending formal schooling in England. He served an engineering apprenticeship at Rolls Royce, England, working many years in design. He transferred to Pioneer Engineering in Barrowford, before coming to Elkhart to work for LE Johnson Inc. for 21 years. During this time he took over operational control of B & M Products, Elkhart, expanding the tool and die business into a very successful fishing and bait shop, operating the business since 1985. He was an avid fisherman, thoroughly enjoying his fishing pursuits on the local lakes, rivers and streams. Friends may call 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, May 9, 2010, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be held at a later date with burial in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
