Rosalie E. Stoltzfus, 83, of Goshen, died Thursday afternoon, December 3, 2009, at Greencroft Healthcare. She had been ill the past ten years. She was born in Alpha, Minnesota, on August 30, 1926, to the late Lloyd Harvey and Nettie Pearl (Hartzler) Garber. She married Daniel H. Stoltzfus on June 9, 1949 in Jackson, Minnesota. He survives. Also surviving are six daughters, Priscilla Dawn (Jan) Trinkley of Walnut, California, Jane Ellen (Jim) Buller of Goshen, Jean Helen (Robert) Martin of Valparaiso, Indiana, Danile Rose (John) Martens of Mishawaka, Indiana, Miriam Faye (Michael) DeShield of Belize, Central American, and Lois Renee (John) Mast of Goshen; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Verna Faye (Earl) Greaser of Harrisonburg, Virginia. She was preceded in death by a son, Lloyd D. Stoltzfus in 1973 and a brother, Peter Harvey Garber. A member of Walnut Hill Mennonite Church, Mrs. Stoltzfus attended grade school in Enterprise Township, Jackson County, Minnesota and in 1941 went to Hesston College Academy, Hesston, Kansas where she graduated in 1944. While attending Hesston she worked in the administrative offices. From 1949 to 1953 she served with her husband in Taiwan and Hong Kong. She then helped her husband in his pastorate work at Hudson Lake Mennonite Church, New Carlisle and at the Community Mennonite Church in South Bend. Starting in 1970 and for 14 years she worked as a secretary for the Madison Center. Friends may call 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, December 6 and from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 7, 2009, memorial service will be conducted at Walnut Hill Mennonite Church, Goshen with Pastor Steve Thomas officiating. A private family graveside service will be held in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be given Mennonite Mission Network or Goshen Care at Home Hospice.
